Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is the main touristic town near the Grand Palladium Resort. From the shore of Playa del Carmen you can see the island of Cozumel on the horizon. The beach here is popular with tourists and local people, but the town really comes alive in the evening with shops, restaurants and bars.

Its only a 20 minute ride each way. Since we were 6 people we had to get a taxi-van which cost US$80 round trip. We found a couple who joined us and we split the cost between 8 people. If we were only 2 persons, I would have taken the colectivo (local public transpot) which is much cheaper, but being 6 people, our chances of finding enough space in a public van for all was very low.

The main street is only for pedestrians and is full of shops, restaurants and bars.
